We seal the leak with a torch-on membrane and an aluminium coating, then build insulation and stone on top, which regulates your home's temperature year-round. Our solution comes with a noticeably more comfortable house, not just a dry one.

Recoating might buy you a season if you’re lucky, our solution can buy you up to 10 years.

A flat or concrete roof sees standing water at some point, that's just what a flat roof does, and once it starts leaking a general waterproofer will usually just recoat what's visible on the surface. You're not fixing the root problem, you're buying a season before the same leak turns up again. And a roof that's only ever been recoated is still just bare concrete underneath, doing nothing to stop your rooms baking in summer or losing heat in winter. Our process of insulating and building it up properly fixes both at once, the leak and the regulating the temperatures.

We can customize the complete system to suit the architects and clients requirements as needed.

Step 1

Evaluate the roof

Evaluate the existing waterproofing: If needed, we strip and remove existing waterproofing and prepare area for new waterproofing. Supply and fit new waterproofing as per specification.

(If new waterproofing is not required then the process will start from step 7)

Step 2

Prime the Surface

Clean and prep and install 1 x layer bitumen primer coating to ensure a dust free surface and to allow proper bonding of the torchon layer. Allow to dry 20 minutes.

Step 3

Seal the Base

1 x torchon layer including full cover on parapet walls.

Step 4

Size the Drainage

Drainage points/full bores/side outlets must be a minimum of 110mm pipes. All drainage to be dressed and sealed as per specifications.

Step 5

Flash the Upturns

Counter flashings are installed at all upturns on feature walls as per manufacturers specification -this includes a 100mm membrane using Bondflex/Plasticrly or Bondcryl- or full cover over the parapits with torchon.

Step 6

Coat & Cure

1 x layer protective aluminium coating is applied as the final coating to ensure longevity and protection from our African sun. Allow to cure for 4 full days before the start of the inverted application.

Step 7

Insulate the Slab

1 x layer 40mm 32DV Multidex insulation panel, the specifications are available on request, we have found this is best suited for our climate and weather conditions. As per usual we are able to customize the properties of the insulation panels based on the clients and architects needs and specifications.

Step 8

Protect the insulation

1 x layer Bidm cloth or dimpled drainage system as needed.

Step 9

Ballast & Finish

1 x layer 19mm crushed stone at an average depth of 50mm, the stone is the ballast that keeps the panels in place in the most severe of storms .
